InfoPOEMS Offer Point-of-Care Guidance

infopoems logoInfoRetriever with InfoPOEMS, a point-of-care, evidence-based clinical information system is now available to USC affiliates from the library website as well as their PDAs and desktop computers. The system is composed of two parts:

  • InfoPOEMs (“Patient-Oriented Evidence that Matters”) is a collection of searchable evidence-based information for clinicians. InfoPOEMS editors continually review more than 100 primary care and family practice journals to identify valid and clinically applicable new evidence.  Within three weeks of publication, approximately 1 out of 40 studies are summarized in brief synopses or POEMS.  Daily InfoPOEMS can be delivered to subscribers via email and all are added to the InfoRetriever database as they are created.
  • InfoRetriever is a database that allows you to search the following evidence-based resources simultaneously or separately:
    • InfoPOEMs database
    • Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews
    • Practice Guideline Summaries
    • Decision Support Calculators
    • 5-Minute Clinical Consult
    • History & Physical Test Calculators
    • Diagnostic Test Calculators
    • ICD-9 lookup too
