Neglected Databases for Clinicians class on 11/20

nml2Do you know what these questions have in common?

  1. Why do some patients take all their medications, and some don’t?
  2. Is vibration therapy or neuromuscular electrical stimulation more effective for muscle pain?
  3. If an American returns from a visit to Eritrea with a respiratory infection, do they need to be quarantined?

Give up? They are all very hard to answer quickly and accurately using PubMed alone—PubMed simply doesn’t include the best journals and data to investigate these topics.  Come to “Neglected Databases for Clinicians” on Wednesday, November 20th from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, in Norris Medical Library’s Computer Classroom for an introduction to three databases that will help you answer questions similar to the ones above. We’ll cover PsycINFO, a premiere psychological database; CINAHL, the literature of nursing and allied health, including occupational and physical therapy; and GIDEON, containing summaries of information on emerging infectious diseases and travel medicine.
